Termites - one of those words that every homeowner dreads to hear, as they should because these little buggers are no joke. Most everyone knows that termites eat wood, but did you know that termites NEVER sleep? Yes you read that right, they never sleep - they build their colonies 24 hours a day, every day, until they die. So contacting a pest control company immediately after spotting termites is crucial, which is where Schmidt Pest Management comes in to save the day (or should we say the wood!). We are your one stop shop for all your termite needs including: termite inspection, treatment, and control.
We offer two different types of termite services. Our first option is an independent termite inspection of your property to see if there is any visible termite damage. This termite inspection averages $150. You receive a written report documenting what we did as well as all our findings. This termite inspection has no obligation to proceed either, that is up to you the customer. If we find termites and you do choose to proceed with Schmidt Pest Management, then we will continue with our full termite treatment service. For this termite service we will treat the perimeter of your home by performing a soil treatment. This treats the perimeter of the house down below the foundation to give the homeowner a thorough treatment. The cost of this termite service begins at $1,000, but depends on the size of your home since we treat the perimeter of the house. If you have this termite treatment performed on your home, then we also offer a warranty, and an annual termite inspection that covers your house for only $150 per year.
***Note: The are several types of termites (see photo below). The termite treatments listed above only treat for subterranean termites.
You might be thinking this is all great information, but how do you know if you have termites? Usually the first sign that your home has termites is when they swarm. This is when the flying termites (called swarmers) leave the colony to find mates or establish a new colony. A termite swarm is the most common way that homeowners find out they have termites. These swarms can happen during the day, or at night (you might notice pieces of wings around the house). These termites (the winged reproductive) look like little flying ants, but do not be fooled they are definitely termites and an indication that you most likely have a termite colony. Above is a picture that shows the different type of termites to help you identify if you have termites or not.
